Installing or replacing AC: what to define in the quotation

A well-prepared installation starts with the space, connections and access. This guide helps you commission and compare professional work, not install a refrigerant circuit yourself.

Before selecting a date

Define how rooms will be used and the proposed unit locations. Provide wide-view photos and flag height access, façades or communal areas. Ask what pipework and trunking are included and how electrical supply and condensate will be handled. Duration depends on these conditions, not simply on the equipment being a split.

Existing pipework and replacement

Do not assume old pipes can be reused: compatibility and condition need checking. Diameters, level differences, lengths and penetrations depend on the equipment and building; no universal measurement is safe. Where gravity drainage is unavailable, a pump solution with maintenance access may be needed. Do not drill walls or open connections to prepare for the visit.

Handover and scope

Agree on old-unit removal, finishes and commissioning checks. For multi-split, ducted, cassette and floor-ceiling systems, confirm the served zones and required access panels. Keep model references, documentation and operating guidance. A basic installation does not mean every possible task: obtain a written scope and a process for approving extras.

Choose the next step

Use the symptom page to understand the likely causes. If the cause is still unclear, book a diagnosis before approving a repair.
