Humidity, heat and coastal exposure: care matched to the surroundings

A property's actual exposure matters more than assuming the same conditions across an entire city. Describe where the unit is and what you observe.

Humidity and condensate

Cooling can produce water as moisture is removed from air; it should leave through the intended drain. A damp sensation does not justify spraying disinfectants or continually lowering the setting. For stains, persistent smells or indoor dripping, distinguish a climate-control issue from water entering the building and seek assessment.

Exposed outdoor equipment

Mention marine exposure when arranging maintenance. From a safe place, observe dirt, visible corrosion and the apparent condition of supports without dismantling anything. Do not apply coatings or pressure-wash on your own initiative: materials and methods must suit the manufacturer. Do not cover an operating unit to protect it from sun or salt.

During intense heat

Reduce solar gains with available shading and keep air inlets clear. If comfort is not maintained, record conditions and symptoms instead of forcing repeated starts. Keep a fallback if someone needs particular conditions; domestic air conditioning alone cannot guarantee protection in a heat-related emergency.

Choose the next step

Use the symptom page to understand the likely causes. If the cause is still unclear, book a diagnosis before approving a repair.
